The Syclone I owned in the late 90's was a 13.4 second truck in stock trim, amazingly close to my Lightning when it was stock. The NHRA stock class trucks are far from stock. They do have very strict guidelines, but blue a stock engine alone can bring significant gains in power.

3/25/2013· Right now they are the Yen equivalent of $7k (for beaters) to $15k-20k (clean stock or tastefully modded). $15-20k buys a *LOT* of used sports car in the US auto market. So if you are planning to buy an 89 GT-R to "flip it" in the states for big bucks in the future think again (IMO).

The Supercharged S-runner has a better power-to-weight ratio than the Ford lightning (3125 lbs/260 HP vs. 4670 lbs/380 HP) and should do 0-60 under 5.5 seconds, the Lightning's best time according to Motortrend, because it also comes with a 5-speed manual where as the Lightning only comes with a 4-speed automatic.
The Cosworth engine was different, 2.0l with 204 hp (capable of vastly more when modified) vs. the Merkur's 2.3 with 145/175 hp. And I believe the XR4Ti actually predates the Sierra Cosworth as many of the Cosworth's suspension parts were developed when racing the XR4Ti in the USA.
